RCGA selects Web site designer

FORT LEONARD WOOD--The Regional Marketing Committee of the Fort Leonard Wood Regional Commerce and Growth Association (FLW RCGA) met today and selected a company to design its new website. Steve Jenkins, chairman of the committee, called the committee to order. At a previous meeting, the written proposals from five companies were reviewed and the two best were selected for further consideration. Ron Selfors, executive director of the RCGA, presented the findings of a survey of the references provided by the two finalists. After hearing oral presentations by representatives of the two finalists, and conducting final deliberations, Jenkins announced that 4aWebSolution of Rolla, Missouri, was the winning company.

Suresh Desu, President of 4aWebSolution, was excited by his company's selection. He said, "I am looking forward to working with the RCGA to build a very professional website." Desu's company will have six months to develop and implement the website.

The website will be used to inform site selection specialists of the opportunities that exist in the Fort Leonard Wood region for new and expanding companies. Steve Jenkins pointed out that the site is intended to provide information to the relatively small number of professional site selectors that make most of the recommendations to companies about where to locate or relocate plants and facilities. The site needs to be very professional, data rich and accurate. "It isn't a site for potential tourists."

The website is part of a three-part strategy to aggressively attract new primary jobs to the region. The other two parts are (1) to conduct a target industry study and (2) to take the study results and market directly to growing, enduring companies that will provide high wage jobs and fit what the region has (or will have) to offer.

The RCGA is a not-for-profit association which promotes economic and community development in the Fort Leonard Wood Region. The region extends along I-44 from Lebanon to Rolla/St. James. It includes Iberia to the north and Houston to the south.

Its membership includes cities, school districts, utility companies, businesses and other associations. Fort Leonard Wood, University of Missouri Rolla, United States Geological Survey, the regional planning councils and the Missouri Department of Economic Development also participate.

Fort Leonard Wood RCGA meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of the month, and the public is always invited. The meetings start at 1:30 PM. Next meeting will be on August 10 at the Crocker High School library. Call 573-329-8505 if you need driving instructions.
