International presence in the Region is enhanced by two unique situations, and both Pulaski and Phelps Counties have substantial international populations.
The University of Missouri-Rolla (UMR) has a large international student population at both undergraduate and graduate levels. More than 800 international students, 6 percent of the student body, attend UMR at any given time.
Fort Leonard Wood (FLW) has the largest international student population of any military installation in the US. More than 600 international military students attend classes at FLW each year.
Several major companies in the Region are internationally owned. They include Cantex (French) and Royal Canin (French) in Rolla; and G3 Boats (Japanese) and Motor Technologies (French) in Lebanon.
